NCIS enthusiasts are ecstatic as CBS has greenlit the new prequel NCIS: Origins for a full season.

The fresh prequel charts the early days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell) during his 1990s stint with the NIS, under the tutelage of NCIS stalwart Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid).

Joining him on his initial assignments are special agents Lala Dominguez (Mariel Molino) and Vera Strickland (Diany Rodriguez), long before Gibbs' collaboration with familiar faces such as Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) and Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama).

Since its inception, Origins has captured the hearts of NCIS devotees, especially in the wake of Mark Harmon's exit from his legendary role as Gibbs in 2021.

With the series premiere dropping in October this year, it appears CBS has hit the jackpot once more, as NCIS: Origins is set to continue its run, reports the Mirror.

On Thursday (November 7), the official NCISVerse Instagram account posted a snapshot of the Origins cast alongside an exhilarating update.

"Get ready to keep showing up to the bullpen because #NCISOrigins is officially renewed for a FULL SEASON!" read the announcement. "Meet you and the gang back at Camp Pendleton on CBS Monday."

The comments section exploded with fans expressing their delight and anticipation for the upcoming episodes slated for next year.

"Stoked!!" one fan declared. "This show, the story lines, and this cast are great. Season one so far is insane!!"

"AHHH SCREAMING SO HAPPY," exclaimed one thrilled viewer in response to the latest episode.

Another elated fan chimed in, "Love this show! ! Keep them coming", while someone else expressed their appreciation, "Great show and seeing the backstory is really fulfilling."

The demand for more was clear as one viewer insisted, "They need MULTIPLE seasons!!! This is now one of my favorites."

"LOVE this show and I LOVE Robert Taylor playing a young Gibb's father!! Perfect fit!" lauded another, thoroughly enjoying the casting choices.

One particularly satisfied fan gushed, "I wasn't ready for how GOOD this show is. We've been on the NCIS train since it originally aired!"

Admitting to a shift in tastes, they added, "NCIS now had become boring to be honest this one is KILLIING it. Can't wait!"

With such passionate feedback, Origins seems poised to capture audiences and establish its tenure in the NCIS legacy if fans continue migrating towards this invigorating new addition to the series.

NCIS: Origins continues Mondays on CBS.
