Strictly Come Dancing fans have hit out at the popular BBC show after controversial bombshell plans were reported. Viewers theorised that the dazzling ballroom show might "not last" as it was reported that five fan favourites would be axed before the next series.
Producers of the show are said to be aiming to replace veteran professional dancers with some new faces in a "fresh start" after a controversial year. Nadiya Bychkova, Neil Jones, Karen Hauer, Gorka Marquez and Katya Jones are the five names that will reportedly have to call it quits and hang up their dancing shoes.
When the 2024 series kicked off the pros posed for a picture together as a show source told the press: "There’s the fear that being on the show leaves them more open to feeling entitled and untouchable. So for many of the pros turning up for rehearsals this week, it may be their last time."
The source went on to suggest it is not a "done deal" and does not mean the longest-serving stars would be affected, but "would be a carefully considered process".
Fan of the BBC show were outraged with the shock news and claimed that the series "wouldn't last much longer."

Posting to X/Twitter, one fan fumed: "This is so tone deaf! The pros are what the people love. People follow and support the pros as much, if not more, than the celebs. Wake up and axe a couple of the judges!"
Another added: "If they do this then I predict the show won't last for much longer... dropping Gorka would be a huge mistake, he's the reason many of us watch!"
A third were outraged as they posted: "Not Katya and Gorka, they are incredible dancers are also good choreographers that the show cant' lose."

Someone else warned: "Some of the favourites. Yes, the show does change - but axing the viewers favourites in one go is shocking.
"I know TV changes every so often, but to get rid of Neil, Katya, Karen, Gorka etc. I think the viewers may change channels."
While one more viewer suggested: "It doesn't need a new lease of life, people have their favourite pros. They actually need to go back to basics with the themed weeks, over/under marking and dreadful song choices."
