TV presenter emotional as she announces co-star's sudden death

A television broadcast took a heartbreaking turn when news anchor Lindsay Liepman broke down on air while delivering the devastating news of her co-star's sudden passing.

The emotional moment unfolded on NBC affiliate KCEN 6 News last night as Liepman informed viewers of the unexpected death of fellow anchor Kris Radcliffe.

The 51-year-old had been a cherished member of the KCEN team for over two decades. Liepman was clearly in the throes of grief while making the announcement as she annouced the death in a shaky voice.

She struggled to hold back tears as she started speaking about the impact Radcliffe had on her and other co-workers.

She began by saying: "This is an incredibly sad day for our KCEN family. My co-anchor Kris Radcliffe died unexpectedly and we received the news today.

"Kris sat in the chair right beside me and he was the best, he was simply the best."

Liepman described Radcliffe as "funny, genuine, and smart", emphasizing the warmth he brought to the workplace. "I looked forward to working with Kris every single night," she added, her voice breaking. "I think you all could tell at home."

"We had fun here. Kris loved this community and never took his role for granted." Liepman then became even more emotional as she reflected on their final shift together.

She said: "If I had known yesterday was going to be our last newscast together I would have ignored the cues to wrap from our producers and just laughed a little longer at all of his jokes. He always has lots of jokes."

She noted how Radcliffe used to love talking about his family, and would always share stories about his grandkids with fellow anchors.

Discussing Radcliffe's death then seemed to get overwhelming for her, and Liepman tearfully apologised to viewers, explaining: "I simply cannot get through the newscast tonight and I hope you understand."

The broadcast was then taken over by a KCEN sister station in Austin.

KCEN later paid tribute to Radcliffe by airing some of his career highlights and sweet messages written by his colleagues after he passed.

Radcliffe left behind several family members including his wife Eden, their two daughters, and two grandchildren.
