Deal or No Deal: Orla leaves the show earning '£10 a day'
Deal or No Deal presenter Stephen Mulhern had the unfortunate task of revealing a slim win to one contestant on the ITV game show, which saw Belfast's own Orla leaving with a slender prize fund.
Orla, a stunner from Belfast, took her place in the spotlight after being part of the series since its inception. Contestants each guard a mystery box to be opened for others, and when finally it's their moment in the hot seat, they can test their fortune.
Ending her game with only two modest amounts left £750 and £250 Orla chose to press on, turning down a banker's offer of £3,190 until her choices dwindled down to the smallest amount, resulting in her departing with just £250.
In a sobering calculation for Orla, Stephen pointed out how little she made per day as a result of her long stint on the show: "She's been here literally from the start, from the start of the first series, and she's won literally... well, £10 a day."
Following her experience on the programme, Orla has celebrated the birth of a child with her partner Caolan. The couple had hopes to use the prize money for the baby's nursery decoration, but regretfully, the £250 won't cover much, reports the Daily Star.
Their joy was shared on Instagram by her partner who proudly announced: "I'd like to introduce everyone to little baby Aogan Caolan McCallion - this little beautiful person decided to grace us on October 30th at 12.11pm weighing a tiny 6 pounds 10 ounces and a tiny 49cm.
"Completely smitten and already head over heels in love with him. I'd also like to give a huge shout out to Orla for being an absolute rockstar and delivering our baby safe and sound. What a stunning woman and person - I adore you both forever."
During her time on the show, Orla proudly wore a baby on board badge, and after the initial announcement, she confirmed that "bump" was indeed joining her. Upon the series' return for a second stint, she teased viewers, saying: "So the good news is I've brought someone new with me but you can't see them!"
Despite the devastating news from the banker, Orla received warm hugs from her co-stars, who shared playful anecdotes about their time on the show together - including Orla's desire to "sniff someone's wine" since she couldn't drink herself.
