ITV seemingly made a blunder ahead of its recent broadcast of the Martin Lewis Money Show. The live TV special saw the finance journalist breaking down the new Labour government’s Autumn Budget presented by Rachel Reeves on Wednesday.

52-year-old Martin, who live-tweeted his initial reaction to the Chancellor’s budget, took to ITV on Thursday (October 30) to explain how it would impact UK residents. Ahead of the analysis, the Money Saving Expert teased the show’s contents in a trailer.

During the Emmerdale Halloween episode credits, a quick clip of Martin highlighting what was to come during the one-off programme was aired. “After the break my Budget special. National Insurance tax, statuary rises, carers allowance, tax benefits—”

As Martin continued to reel off the show’s contents, cameras panned out and showed a woman counting him down to the credits cut-off point. “—Lifetime ISAs, capital gains, winter fuel payments, mortgages and that’s time,” he could be heard saying before the camera cut out.

A video of the apparent TV blunder has been shared by an X user named Craig Price-Jones, who goes by the username @craggleprice. “@MartinSLewis what happened here,” he wrote alongside a string of laughing Emojis.

In the comments section, one person wrote: “Well @ITV struggled to play Tuesdays end credit promo. Not very seemless. And this time played out an outtake.” (Sic)

Ahead of the 60-minute Budget special, Martin took to social media to reveal his team had previously invited the Chancellor of the Exchequer onto the show.

“So it looks like @RachelReeves isn't coming on @itvMLshow live budget special tonight 8pm,” he typed to his 3.1 million followers.

“We put in a bid weeks ago (for live or pre-recorded). Was told it was being considered, but have not heard anything.

“Shame as we're most watched current affairs show on TV by miles, no idea why her press team would put her on far less viewed political shows but not mainstream consumer TV?”

He added that he didn’t want fans to “worry” because Reeves’ absence meant “more time” for him to explain to viewers in detail how the budget may affect them.

“(And the chancellor misses the chance to give her interpretation),” he added.

During the Budget special, Martin issued a chilling warning to couples who aren’t currently married.

He explained that if you die without a will it’s likely that your partner could inherit nothing from your estate.

"If you have assets, do a will, then you get to decide where they go. If not, what's called the intestacy laws will decide where your assets go. It depends on which UK nation you're in,” he told viewers.

“Go on to Gov.uk and have a look at what the situation would be in your case, especially if you've got dependent children."
