Eamonn Holmes shared that he had been thinking about what he would leave behind when he dies. The 64-year-old GB News presenter made a candid admission about his mortality and what message he would like to leave when his time to leave the Earth comes.

Discussing the price of assisted dying Eamonn clearly began thinking about his own mortality. The topic came to discussion as there have been headlines where doctors have warned that assisted dying is cheaper than looking after those with life-threatening illnesses.

Feeling philisophical, Eamonn said: "I would say the thing about life is, and I'm going to get this put on my headstone..."

One of his co-stars interrupted saying: "'I told you I was ill', that's what you'll have." He corrected her as he continued: "No, I'm going to put 'it wasn't everything it was cracked up to be'."

After a few 'awws' and pitiful sighs from his co-presenters, Eamonn, 64, added: "No, that is a genuine experience of my life. Now, I've had a pretty good life but I look back at it and think 'is that it?'"

The GB News presenter, who split from his famous wife Ruth Langsford earlier this year, has faced a number of health issues over the years. In recent months he has been spotted using mobility aids due to issues with his back.

Speaking at the TRIC Awards in June, Eamonn told the press: "I went for an operation a year and a half ago and it went wrong. I got two things in my back that I didn't want."

He has previously mentioned feeling like he's living on "borrowed time", given that his father passed away from a heart attack at 65.

In a separate health scare, Eamonn suffered from a severe case of Shingles in 2018, which he attributes to stress from a tax dispute with HMRC regarding his employment status on This Morning.

The condition left him looking brutally battered, as he described it by saying: "It was bloody scary to see it. It looked as if someone had taken a baseball bat to my face and smashed me about a bit."

The TV presenter also faced the frightening possibility of blindness due to the infection's proximity to his eyes.

"Blindness could have been a complication in my case," he explained. "The doctor said it's really bad for you because it's around your eyes, and could be bad for your ophthalmic nerves. Medically, it was pretty serious."
