BBC Strictly Katya Jones' mask slips as true colours show in awkward Wynne Evans snub

Strictly Come Dancing fans were speechless as they spotted two very tense moments between Wynne Evans and his partner Katya Jones.

In one moment, Katya was seen moving Wynne's hand as he placed it on her waist, and another saw her seemingly roll her eyes at him as he tried to give her a high five.

The pair have since issued an apology in a video following the show, but body language expert Judi James has had her say on the tension between them.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Judi said: "When someone bounces up like an excited puppy to offer you a double-handed high five with both hands raised in the air, turning your back on them with what looks suspiciously like a sneer and leaving them to salvage their pride at the snub by placing their hands on their own head in a ritual of self-celebration instead doesn't always register or look like a joke.

"Katya appears to push Wynne's hand back here in a second odd moment as he inches it around her waist. Katya also re-boots her positioning here by stepping slightly away and clasping her own hands in front of her torso."

Judi continued: "Fans of Strictly are normally scouring it for signs of potential romances brewing but these two moments would be unlikely to pass them by, especially as they are on the balcony where cheesy, overkill body language rituals and wide performed smiles are the norm.

"They look like double rejections and the couple's 'Sorry' video only seems to dig a bigger hole as both look awkward with no signals like eye contact, shared smiling or giggling together to form much in the way of a denial to all the current headlines."

In their apology video, Katya said: "Hello everybody it's Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry. It was a silly joke." Wynne added: "Yes sorry."
