Good Morning Britain's Rob Rinder quizzes Ed Miliband

Kate Garraway and Rob Rinder grilled Pat McFadden over Labour's plummeting popularity. Despite heading into the general election as the most popular party leader, an exclusive poll for Good Morning Britain has revealed thatMr Starmer is now the least popular leader.

Just 33 per cent of Labour voters believe the party has performed well in their first 100 days in government.

Appearing on Friday's instalment (October 11) of the ITV programme, McFadden defended the controversial decisons made by the Labour government in their first 100 days in power, including cutting winter fuel payments for pensioners.

"In the first 100 days we had to make some decisions we would rather not have taken. I wish we'd taken office at a time when public finances were under control, but we didn't," the politician told the presenters.

Kate interjected: "I don't want to interrupt you but that has nothing to do with the things that are most concerning people, even more than the winter fuel payments."

The 56-year-old also mentioned the Labour freebies row, adding: "That has come anyway. That is not a part of the budget, is it? That's not a part of the deficit. That has been, as the most generous would say, the least badly handled."

McFadden said there are "a few headlines" that he hasn't been pleased with, but said these particular issues come in the terms and conditions of being in government, claiming he knew Labour would come under criticism and scrutiny.

Interjecting, Kate quipped: "I'm going to let Rob talk because I don't want to interrupt you, but it's not a few headlines, is it? It's every single day and it's not about the decisions, it's about the behaviour of the government."

McFadden said people need to look past certain headlines because Labour after focused on helping and serving the public in a positive way. After listing the controversy surrounding Labour, such as the freebies row and winter fuel payments, Rinder reverted back to the poll, claiming Labour can't be proud of their first 100 days.

"I think we've made a good start. There's been a few headlines I haven't liked, but there is more good investment to come," McFadden responded.

However, things turned tense as Rinder cut off McFadden's answer as he avoided the question, as he said: "Excuse me. I'm interrupting you because that isn't the answer to my question."
