This Morning: Gyles Brandreth spits out spicy coke
This Morning guest Gyles Brandreth was forced to apologise to his co-stars after spitting his drink out, leaving Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley utterly gobsmacked.
The pair were back on our screens helming Wednesday's instalment of ITV's beloved daytime programme. Joined by famed show guests Gyles Brandreth, aged 76, and Vanessa Feltz, 62, they delved into the current trending topics, but it was a certain spicy beverage test that stole the spotlight.
The group courageously opted to sample Dua Lipa's viral spicy Coke concoction, a sensation that had already set social media abuzz after her TikTok video showed her unique Diet Coke condiments.
Dua Lipa's quirky recipe included an assortment of sliced pickles, jalapenos, and a generous dose of pickle juice poured right into the carbonated drink, reports the Mirror.
Before proceeding with the daring taste test, Gyles expressed concern, remarking: "The Jalapenos are the one thing I am worried about because they are chilli and they could be hot."

Ben concurred, adding: "Yes they can be." Before voicing his doubts about tampering with Diet Coke, inquiring: "What is wrong with Diet Coke, why does it need these extra things?"
Ben braved the first sip, immediately pulling a face indicating his distaste and forewarned Gyles: "We've put the pickle juice in already so just prepare yourself, Gyles. Prepare your face."
Despite initial reservations, Gyles indulged in a hefty gulp only to then hilariously spray his co-presenters with the beverage. Vanessa, who was sat by his side, recoiled and exclaimed: "Oh my God."
Gyles, clearly regretful about the mishap, responded: "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. It hit the back of the throat all of a sudden."

Ben and Cat were rendered speechless as Gyles went on: "I'm so sorry for that but it's quite nice." Ben was evidently shocked as he blurted out: "What!"
Vanessa remarked: "Yeah right. He doesn't like it really." Gyles clarified: "It's a little bit like a Bloody Mary."
"Indeed, with the heat of it," Ben chimed in. As the situation unfolded, Cat couldn't hold back her laughter. The embarrassment was palpable on Gyles as he insisted: "Honestly I am so sorry and I promise I will do my own cleaning up. I apologize."
Cat, making light of the incident commented: "What about my dry cleaning? " Gyles again expressed regret, stating: "I am sorry.”
