Rivals will soon be ready to watch but when is the series going to premiere and who makes up the all-star cast?
Disney+ is going to be the home of the eagerly anticipated adaptation of author Jilly Cooper’s book Rivals which was originally published back in the late 1980s.
Now, it’s about to find itself a whole new fanbase with the seductive game-playing drama set to debut on the streamer.
Rivals on Disney+ release date
The countdown begins as Rivals will be making its debut on Friday, October 18, on Disney+.
The series will consist of eight episodes in total, all of which are going to be available to watch in one go on the show’s initial release date.
Rivals on Disney+ cast
Rivals is literally filled to the brim with famous faces, the first being actor Alex Hassell as charismatic former Olympian and Tory MP Rupert Campbell-Black.
He will be remembered for playing Metatron in His Dark Materials, as well as for starring in The Boys and Silent Witness.
Hassell is joined by Doctor Who and Good Omens star David Tennant as Rupert’s egotistical neighbour Lord Baddingham who is also the controller of Corinium Television.
Poldark and Being Human star Aidan Turner is also in the cast as Declan O’Hara who starts working as a presenter for Corinium TV, as well as EastEnders star Danny Dyer as lovable self-made electronics millionaire Freddie Jones.
Some of the other most notable stars include The Inbetweeners’ Emily Atack, W1A’s Rufus Jones, Our Girl star Luke Pasqualino and Sex Education’s Bella Maclean, just to name a few.
Rivals on Disney+ plot
Based on author Jilly Cooper’s novel of the same name, Rivals delves into the ruthless world of independent television in the late 1980s.
The book and series revolve around the rivalry between ex-Olympic rider and Conservative MP Rupert Campbell-Black and TV station controller Lord Tony Baddingham.
As the future of Corinium Television hangs in the balance, the pair are at loggerheads as they both are determined to come out on top.
Rivals premieres on Friday, October 18, on Disney+.
