Strictly: Chris McCausland performs Wayne's World routine

BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans were astounded as Chris McCausland stepped onto the dance floor with an extraordinary routine during Movie Week - with even the usually hard-nosed judge Craig Revel Horwood heaping praise on him.

Following the comedian's high-energy jive to the iconic Wayne's World theme alongside professional partner Dianne Buswell, the visually impaired star was inundated with glowing tweets.

The judges were equally wowed by his performance, with a pirate-attired Craig - channelling Jack Sparrow - lauding him with three magic words: "You're a dancer" and gifting him seven points.

Describing the lively act as "packed full of fantastic rhythm" Chris and Dianne notched up an impressive tally of 30 points from the panel.

On X, formerly Twitter, one fan questioned Craig's response saying: "Blimey, who swapped @CraigRevHorwood for a human this week? @chrismccausland #strictly," reports the Mirror.

While others were also quick to praise the pair with another exclaiming: "Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell are the partnership we never knew we needed; they absolutely fill my heart with joy! #Strictly".

Others comments included: "Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell for the win #Strictly Iconic."

And further tweets celebrated their progress with another saying: "Every week @chrismccausland and @dbuzz6589 just seem to get better and better! Just incredible #Strictly."

Echoing the sentiments, another read: "I had to watch #Chris again so bloody joyful he's amazing! @chrismccausland #Strictly."

Fans were in for a treat when Chris donned his Wayne's World costume, with many noting a striking resemblance to famous crooner Lewis Capaldi. Comments flooded the internet as one viewer remarked: "Chris and Dianne were amazing. Honestly I'm so impressed with Chris here I've never seen a man who is blind that can dance it is actually brilliant. The costume is amazing. I didn't recognise Chris here he looks like Lewis Capaldi."

This year's season of Strictly Come Dancing is particularly special as it commemorates its 20th anniversary, yet this milestone comes on the heels of controversy. After last season's participant Amanda Abbingdon departed prematurely citing concerns about how she was treated behind the scenes, an enquiry ensued.

Earlier this week, it came to light that while accusations of verbal bullying and harassment were substantiated, Giovanni Pernice was not found to be physically aggressive.

The latest twist in the series came after Olympian Tom Dean found himself unexpectedly eliminated following the initial dance-off, leaving fans shocked as Toyah Wilcox, despite trailing at the bottom after judges' scores, managed to stay in the competition.

Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC One on Saturdays and Sundays and BBC iPlayer
