Eamonn Holmes said that he feels Phillip Schofield is "where he deserves to be" after his relationship with a younger man came to light. The GB News star has admitted that he is “very proud” to have “thrown him [Phil] under the bus”.

Speaking about Phil's TV return, as he is set to appear in a new Channel 5 show following him on a desert island, 64-year-old Eamonn ripped into him, and the affair which saw Phil step down from This Morning.

The presenter said: “If I am one of the people who threw him under the bus, I am very proud to have done it and protected children."

He added: "People seem to be forgetting this and they’re making it out to be one situation, one relationship, if you want to believe it, fine. But I believe he is where he deserves to be.”

Eamonn’s co-host, Isabel Webster, reminded viewers of Schofield’s words stating that the affair was “unwise, but not illegal”. But Eamonn's scathing verdict on Phil continued, as he said: "He fertles with an underage boy, you can make your mind up when it started.

“This man is addicted to fame. Absolutely addicted to fame. Funny, nobody is going to put Huw Edwards on a desert island and say, ‘Huw, tell us about your experiences’. But they will do it to Phillip Schofield.”

Schofield is making his television comeback on Channel 5’s Phillip Schofield: Cast Away. It is set to follow the former ITV presenter spending 10 days alone on a small island off the coast of Madagascar.

In one of the episodes, the 62-year-old ripped into his former colleagues for not standing up for him for numerous controversies that he faced.

He called two people that he used to work with "cowards". One came into his firing line for not defending him over “queuegate”, and a second for not “stepping up” over another matter, which he did not clarify. Phil described a third unnamed person as “just brand-orientated”.

Speaking about his exit, Phil added: "When you've given so much to somewhere and been so loyal, to have absolutely no loyalty shown to you. I know what I did was unwise, not sensible. But is it enough to absolutely destroy someone? Literally destroy them."

Schofield walked away from ITV in May 2023 amidst revelations of his affair with a younger male colleague from This Morning, a scandal he'd previously denied.
