Piers Morgan says he received a text message from Keir Starmer

Piers Morgan let slip his conversation with Sir Keir Starmer after the prime minister sent him a text message on Saturday night.

The Uncensored presenter, 59, was quizzed by politics presenter Laura Kuenssberg if he would like to send birthday wishes to Prince Harry but he declined.

"Out of time to ask you whether or not you wanted to wish Prince Harry a 'Happy Birthday,'" she quizzed.

Piers replied: "I'd rather not bother with that but I would much rather wish Arsenal a win in the north London Derby.

"I can tell you the prime minister has a vested interest. He asked me last night.. he texted me, 'Are you going?'"

Laura chimed in: "Oh, the prime minister is texting you now, is he?"

He replied: "[Keir] texted me to ask if I was going to the big game. Two Arsenal fans."

Viewers flocked to social media as they reacted to their short text exchange.

@GeMini0607_in tweeted: "Keir Starmer texting Piers Morgan about the match? Even the Prime Minister’s got game-day FOMO! [Fear of missing out]."(sic)

@PollyTixNe asked: "Did he pay for his ticket or was it given to him for free?"

@mrkkat2 quipped: "Such a busy man, our PM."

@RaX369X added: "Name-dropping, how typical of Piers."

Arsenal will face Tottenham Hostspur in the first north London derby of the season on Sunday, as the Premier League continues its return after the international break.

Meanwhile, Sir Keir, who is an avid Arsenal supporter, was spotted with his wife at the St Leger Festival in Doncaster on Saturday.

The Prime Minister and his wife Lady Victoria Starmer were pictured smiling on the balcony at the Betfred St Leger meeting.

His appearance at the South Yorkshire course came after he returned from Washington DC where he discussed the crises in Ukraine and the Middle East with the US president Joe Biden.
