Outlander season 7 part 2 trailer on STARZ

Outlander fans are rejoicing as Marsali Fraser star Lauren Lyle announced her return following a three-year hiatus. The show sees both Marsali and Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) adopted son, Fergus (César Domboy) make a comeback.

Fergus was first introduced during season two and he is a French immigrant who grew up in a brothel and never knew his biological parents. He was taken in by Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in 1744. In season three, he fell in love with Marsali and the couple went on to get married.

However, they moved away and have not been seen on the show since season six. Actress Lauren has since updated fans with an Instagram post, confirming her character's return.

Posting a photo of herself in costume, she wrote: "Today was my last ever day on @outlander_starz. It had been 3 years since I last shot on the show when they asked me back for a turn on this final season.

"It’s now been eight years since I got cast... I really don’t know what to say. My life has changed on this show. Truly different lives lived."

She added: "I’m so grateful for Marsali Fraser and all that came with her. For all your support and stories. See how I played the devil's child that turned good? Very mindful, very demure."

In April 2024 the Outlander Instagram account shared a behind-the-scenes video from season eight, which featured César and Lauren in costume.

Sam was heard joking: "I thought we got rid of you," while César added: "Touched stones and now we’re back."

Following Lauren's Instagram update, fans flocked to the comments to express their excitement ahead of the show's return.
