BH: Izzie Balmer apologises to team after bonus buy fail

Bargain Hunt expert Izzie Balmer and her team were dealt a devastating blow during Saturday's episode of the BBC show.

As viewers were taken to Nottinghamshire, sisters Yolande and Jeanette were keen to find items which would make them a hefty profit at auction.

With £300 to spend, they set off at Newark Showground to find antiques that caught their eye. In the end, they opted for a set of four retro chairs, a pair of gloves and two glass champagne buckets.

As the auction began, the siblings were thrilled as the chairs made them a profit of £50 and the gloves £9.

Before their third item went up for auction, host Eric Knowles told the team they were in a total profit of £59, with their third item.

He told the women they had taken a chance on the champagne coolers, which had cost them £95.

However, he thought they would do well as he told them: "We think they're chic, we think they deserve to do well."

Sadly, it seemed as though the buyers didn't share the same thoughts as Eric as the bids failed to come in.

Kicking off the bidding at £30, no one was interested as Izzie said to the women: "Oh no!"

The price dropped down to £20 as Eric winced for the low amount they were going to sell for.

In the end, they sold for £40, causing the sisters to take a sharp inhale of breath, not impressed with the sale.

Fearful for their profits, Yolande said: "That's wiped us out. That's a shame."

Loosing out by £55, Eric informed them they were still in profit but only by £4.

However, their last chance to make some money was all in the hands of expert Izzie who brought a bronze horse sculpture for £80.

When it was time for the piece to go up to auction, the bidding started at £40.

Watching on as the price went to £50, one of the team members said: "Oh, it does look worth more than that."

Realising she'd lost the team £30, Izzie said: "I'm sorry ladies!"

Putting an arm around the expert and her sister, Yolande replied: "We're in it together."

In the end, the sisters had a total loss of £26, which made them the winners of the episode as the opposing team had a loss of £30.

Bargain Hunt is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
