EastEnders tease courtroom drama in new trailer

EastEnders viewers believe they've spotted a glaring error following the catastrophic crush incident at Peggy's nightclub, which left one teenager battling for their life. The drama unfolded this week when Albert Square was thrown into disarray as Peggy's club became dangerously overcrowded, leading to a fatal crush.

The chaos ensued after Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) tampered with the booking system, releasing extra tickets for Penny Branning's (Kitty Castledine) bank holiday event.

As panic set in, Penny and Zack Hudson (James Farrar) attempted to evacuate everyone safely, but the fire exit was obstructed.

Terrified partygoers screamed and glass shattered as they realised they were trapped. Zack instructed Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) to escape through the office via an alternative emergency exit.

However, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) and Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) were locked in, unaware of the unfolding disaster outside.

To break out, Lauren used a fire extinguisher to smash down the door, only to be trampled by the fleeing crowd and knocked unconscious.

As people scrambled to return upstairs, Penny was knocked from her wheelchair. At the scene, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) discovered his daughter Penny being rushed away by paramedics, who had some heartbreaking news for him, reports the Daily Star.

Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) was in turmoil as he witnessed his youngest daughter Amy (Ellie Dadd) being stretchered away in a critical state, plunging into cardiac arrest amidst the chaos.

Yet, it wasn't just the heart-wrenching scene that caught the audience's attention - die-hard EastEnders fans were quick to notice the background screams bore a striking resemblance to audio from a previous Albert Square disaster 14 years past.

Flocking to X, an eagle-eyed fan shared side-by-side clips of both incidents, remarking: "They did it again. Using the screams from the Vic fire in 2010. You can hear Janine shouting for Ryan #EastEnders" accompanied by laughter-inducing emojis.

Another fan suggested: "They could've at least made new screaming noises."

A third Twitter user added their voice, noting: "They could have made new screaming noises instead of Janine screaming for Ryan."

Another fan posted, "Omg you can hear Ricky", while others chimed in with recognition and amusement: "I thought I heard the same sound effects", followed by the inevitable flurry of laughing face emojis.

Meanwhile, another critic highlighted their discovery, saying, "Omg you're right."

EastEnders airs Monday - Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and iPlayer
