Emmerdale: Ella threatens Wendy after attacking her
Emmerdale viewers were left stunned as a popular character was attacked in shocking scenes. Ella Forster, portrayed by Paula Lane, joined the show earlier this year with a significant secret. In true soap opera style, her major revelation was eventually disclosed.
At the age of 11, Ella committed a crime that resulted in her best friend's death and led to her imprisonment. After being released, Ella, formerly known as Ruth, has been moving around the country ever since.
Upon arriving in the Dales in January, Ella hoped to finally find stability, particularly as she began a relationship with GP Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).
However, when he discovered her past as a child killer, Liam ended their relationship, unable to cope with it after his own daughter Leanna's (Mimi Slinger) murder, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Consequently, Ella left the village in June but made a dramatic return recently and has since integrated into the community, becoming close friends with Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley).
In Thursday's episode (August 22), Mandy decided to throw a birthday party for Ella. Despite initial hesitation, Ella eventually joined the festivities.
But in an unexpected turn of events, a mysterious man appeared at the pub, leaving Ella rattled. The man was a relative of the child Ella killed and publicly confronted her.
Ella, fraught with guilt and despair, believed she deserved a return to prison, convinced that her chances of starting anew were shattered.
Emotionally wrecked, Ella was comforted by nurse Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson) who led her into the surgery, only for Ella to lash out violently, slapping Wendy and trashing the room in a distressing meltdown.

Demanding Wendy call the police, Ella stood firm, and despite the village's attempts to offer support, resigned herself to fate as she was taken away by police.
The dramatic scene elicited strong reactions from fans, with viewers flocking to social media in disbelief. One exclaimed: "Ella! ? Hit Wendy!! omg! " while another commented on the unexpected violence, posting: "Most random punch I've ever seen, what was that all about." (sic)
Confusion and surprise resounded, with another declaring: "Wait what ok what just happened there didn't see that coming." Another fan was compelled to double-check the scene: "I had to rewind that bit what was going on?!"
