Guy Martin, the daredevil presenter known for his death-defying stunts, is set to return to our screens in a few weeks with the second series of Top Guns: Inside the RAF.

The 42-year-old former motorcycle racer and heavy vehicle mechanic will take viewers on an exhilarating journey as he flies the 'fastest machine he's ever been in' on the Channel 4 show.

The programme promises to give viewers an exclusive look into the skies, command centres and hangars as RAF crews continue to defend Britain's skies from threats both domestic and international.

Viewers will also be granted exclusive access to RAF Coningsby and RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire, the spiritual county home of bomber command.

The series will follow pilots, engineers and armourers as they head overseas on deployment to eastern Europe and the Mediterranean, showcasing the increasing pressure and demands.

Guy's official Instagram account revealed that he will undergo intensive training to fly a classic frontline fighter jet, the De Havilland Vampire.

In addition to this, the former motorcycle racer and heavy vehicle mechanic will learn about the jet engine, its maverick genius inventor Sir Frank Whittle, and how this extraordinary British invention revolutionised travel and changed our lives forever. He will also build a jet engine himself, in his shed.

Rita Daniels, Documentaries commissioning editor, expressed her excitement for the upcoming series, stating: "The first series of Top Guns was a such a success with True North doing a fantastic job of bringing the high-stakes of the RAF's work to our screens. We can't wait to follow up with what promises to be an even more high-octane series with unprecedented access to two new RAF bases," reports Grimsby Live.

Adding to this, Executive producer Christian Hills said: "It was a real privilege to showcase the hard work of the RAF during one of their busiest and challenging times in recent years. Series Two will once again take us back into the heart of the action following frontline operations that have never been filmed before."

Top Guns: Inside the RAF is on Channel 4 on Sunday, August 25 at 9pm
