GMB: Trisha nearly caught 'poking eyes out' over Molly Mae story

Good Morning Britain's Trisha Goddard had to issue an on-air apology after she appeared distracted during a segment about Love Island.

The 66 year old presenter, alongside Richard Madeley, was at the helm of Thursday's show (August 15), tackling various global and national issues. However, it was the gossip surrounding Love Island's Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury that saw Trisha visibly disinterested.

Caught off-guard by the camera, Trisha confessed to viewers that she was "poking my eyes out" in anticipation of the discussion about the reality TV couple's split after five years together, which had been announced the previous day.

Clearly not enthused about the topic, Trisha exclaimed: "I'm sorry. Sorry, you caught me! Poking my eyes out!"

Later, Trisha seemed to challenge the producers' choice of content, asking: "But do you need 6 stories one after the other about someone's private life?", reports the Mirror.

Entertainment correspondent Richard Arnold, gearing up to delve into the story, humorously suggested he might walk off the set after hearing Trisha's frank comments, indicating he wouldn't mind an early exit from the show.

Despite the buzz around Tommy and Molly's surprising split, some viewers resonated with Trisha's sentiment, as evidenced by a fan's comment on social media: "Agree 100% With Trisha. Who gives a flying F**K about Tommy Fury's love life?"

In a dramatic twist to their fairy tale romance, Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have called it quits. The Love Island sweethearts, who first met on the show back in 2019, seizing second place but later clinched the title of the most successful pairing from the UK version, have parted ways despite sharing a daughter, Bambi, born in January 2023.

In a heartfelt post released on Wednesday, Molly sorrowfully announced: "Never in a million years did I think I'd ever have to write this. After five years of being together, I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way."

She continued her statement with an outpouring of love for her daughter, saying: "I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter... Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority."

Molly concluded her emotional announcement by requesting privacy at this difficult time and expressing gratitude for the unwavering support of her fanbase. In a subsequent move, Tommy shared a matching sentiment through his own digital channels.
