Naga Munchetty makes playful dig at Mike Bushell

Naga Munchetty knew she'd made an obvious mistake during Thursday's show as she retorted to her co-stars: "That sounded so stupid."

The BBC Breakfast star had been chatting to Tim Muffet, who was reporting live from Kingston Upon Thames and had visited the area after new hedgehog crossings had been installed in the area in a bid to protect the species.

As the camera cut to Tim, the hedgehog sign was evident in the background. However, Naga found herself getting flustered and completely scanned over the obvious indicator behind the presenter.

She asked: "Is that the sign, Tim?" As the host added: "Good Morning to you," before realising her error and attempting to remedy the situation.

"Ohhh no, I was looking at the purple sign underneath, it's the one across, obviously," pointed out Naga. Annoyed with herself, she said to her co-stars: "Do you know what, that sounded so stupid."

When it comes to on-air chaos, Naga is no stranger. Just last week the host found herself in a bit of a situation and was forced to halt the show, following a number of technical hiccups.

The host was in the process of moving from the red sofa to begin the next part of the programme when an image was supposed to appear behind her but failed to make an appearance.

Looking down the camera lens, Naga said: "In the last 24 hours, the BBC has been looking at some of the challenges facing the industry as part of a campaign called Farm Watch set up to inform and educate the public about what it is really like to be a farmer, take a look."

There was an awkward pause for a moment as the TV host scanned the studio, meeting the glance of her co-star Charlie Stayt - who evidently knew that there was something amiss with her segment.

Bringing the show to a standstill, Naga admitted: "Well you could have had a look but we haven't got it, unfortunately. But what we can do is show you a feed at this moment in time."

Unbeknown to the BBC 5Live star, things were about to get even worse with another mistake unfolding. Making light of the situation, she laughed: "Oh, well, it is a frozen combine harvester. This is great."

BBC Breakfast airs each day on BBC1 from 6am.
