The Chase: Bradley backs player after he takes low offer

Bradley Walsh presents The Chase as contestants face the UK's top quizzers including Shaun Wallace, Mark Labbett, Anne Hegerty, Darragh Ennis, Paul Sinha and Jenny Ryan.

After 17 regular series and 13 celebrity series, as well as spin-offs - including Beat The Chasers - there has been growing speculation about the show's future, with claims the popular series could come to an end in the next couple of years, according to the latest show odds.

Just this year, there have been reports that programmes including ITV series Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow, Channel 5's Puzzling, and BBC trio Sitting on a Fortune, Unbeatable and Moneyball have been shelved, or at least rested.

In recent months viewers have also hit out after the show has continued to air repeats of the popular quiz programme while the spin-off show Beat The Chasers has still been producing new content.

In a previous interview with The Sun's TV Mag, host Bradley said that the show was "at least 100 episodes behind schedule" due to lockdown; during the production hiatus, repeats were shown in the programme's regular timeslot.

Meanwhile, the Governess recently admitted ITV have "less money from adverts" nowadays because the streaming services are now flexing their muscles in the ad game.

Anne told the Daily Star: "Things are so tough that quite a few shows are being axed.

"Obviously, one is always a little bit worried and one is always glad to hear there will be more episodes.

"I don’t want to imagine life without The Chase. But we are doing better than most shows. It does the business in the ratings. So many people watch it."

Gambling.com Entertainment Expert James Leyfield has addressed The Chase's future and which fan favourite could be the first to exit the programme.

Their latest odds revealed the show is just 6/4 to come to an end in 2025.

Odds are 8/1 that the show can last until 2028 or later, while it's 2/1 second favourite for the programme to be defeated in 2026.

Meanwhile, Shaun, otherwise known as The Dark Destroyer, is the 8/11 favourite on new betting sites to be the first Chaser to leave the show - despite the barrister admitting he has no plans to leave the programme.

He recently told The Mirror: "I'm celebrating 40 years in the job this year and I have no plans to retire at 65. I love it. I love quizzing too, so I will be doing that for as long as I can."

Shaun added: "I never take being on The Chase for granted. I know it could all end tomorrow, and I still pinch myself that we are celebrating our 15th anniversary this year."

Darragh - who goes by the nickname The Menace - was the last Chaser to be brought onto the show, in 2020, but is second favourite to leave followed by Anne at 7/4, Paul, also known as The Sinnerman at 3/1, with Jenny The Vixen at 4/1 and Mark otherwise known as The Beast at 5/1.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
