The Yorkshire Vet: Peter 'embarrassed' by faulty equipment
The Yorkshire Vet’s leading man Peter Wright is back but how did he meet his beloved wife Lin?
Channel 5 fans are thrilled to see The Yorkshire Vet back on their screens with Peter Wright, Julian Norton and the rest of the team returning for season 19 which began this week.
A fan-favourite is of course iconic vet Alf Wight’s - also known as James Herriot - prodigy Peter Wright who worked at Skeldale Veterinary Centre for four decades before moving onto pastures anew.
Throughout this time, by his side was his beloved wife Lin, with whom he shares two children: electrician Andrew and criminologist Emily, who has given them a 19-year-old grandson named Archie.
While Peter has been starring on the small screen for nearly a decade, few details are known about his other half Lin and their love story.
How did The Yorkshire Vet star Peter Wright meet his wife Lin?
Peter Wright first crossed paths with his wife Lin in 1984 at a party but his choice of first date definitely left something to be desired.
She explained to the Mirror: "We met at a joint work do, where my dentist's office mixed with the local vet's on the same street.
"There was a spark straight away but, oddly for our first date, he took me to an abattoir. An old cow who couldn't be used for meat was being slaughtered.
"Peter wanted to observe and work out what was wrong with the cow. I waited for him outside. It didn't get much better as it went on, really!”
Despite this less-than-conventional first date, the pair decided to move in together just six weeks later.
Peter and Lin then went on to have their first child Emily before getting married and later having their second Andrew.
As of this year, the couple have been married for 38 years, almost as long as Peter has worked as a vet.
Prior to retiring, Lin worked alongside Peter as a receptionist at Skeldale where she would answer emergency calls.
