Coronation Street's Alina actress addresses future on show after 'difficult' scenes

Coronation Street actress Ruxandra Porojnicu has spoken about her future on the popular ITV soap following her character's recent return.

Alina Pop made a dramatic return after a three-year absence, and she didn't come back alone. It was revealed that Alina had a son, with her former flame Tyrone Dobbs being the biological father of her child.

It's set to stir up some drama, particularly for Tyrone and Fiz, but that won't come as a surprise for Corrie fans.

In an interview with The Mirror, Ruxandra opened up on her return and addressed if she'll be staying around for a bit longer this time. She shared: "I think it would be nice, I would love for her to stick around. I don't think she'd have chosen to come back this early because her child is so young."

Ruxandra added: "Being back is too much, she needed time away to heal. She did some healing for sure in those years away but she needs more time to be away from the street."

Discussing Alina's relationship with her child, the actress said having her own family has made things "different", adding that she's "grown up" a lot.

Ruxandra admitted she's hoping to seem more like a "mama bear" than someone set to stir up trouble.

However, Alina will be concerned for her son due to her history with Hope. She revealed: "I think it will be difficult to see Hope. There is a big wound related to Hope, she caused the wound."

Ruxandra explained that it's hard but Alina is trying her best and "had to make a few sacrifices" along the way.

Alina reappeared last week and on Friday, viewers saw her baby for the first time after previously leaving the soap in September 2021 with a blooming baby bump.

When she returned with her baby in hand on Friday, she was cornered after Tyrone's mother Cassie collected her in a taxi and forced to admit that Tyrone was the father of her son.
