Eastenders: Ayesha arrives in Walford to confront Nish Panesar
EastEnders enthusiasts are calling on the show's executives to make Ayesha, played by actress Laila Rouass, a permanent character following her debut on the BBC soap on Monday evening (August 5). In the latest episode, Suki Panesar and her youngest son Vinny were seen dining at Walford East when Nish made an appearance.
The terminally ill businessman displayed a vengeful expression as Ayesha entered the restaurant, leaving Suki taken aback.
To provide some background, Ayesha is the widow of Hardeep, who was killed by Nish Panesar over twenty years ago under the mistaken belief that he and Suki were having an affair but in reality, it was Ayesha for whom Suki had feelings.
Nish reached out to Ayesha under false pretences, seeking forgiveness before his impending death, but his true intention is to use Ayesha to disrupt the relationship between his ex-wife Suki and her partner Eve Unwin.
Upon confronting her husband's killer, Ayesha's anger was palpable and she stormed off, with Suki chasing after her to clarify that she was not part of Nish's plot as they were divorced.

Back home, the old friends shared a heartfelt conversation in which Suki confessed that she had allowed Nish to believe she was involved with Hardeep, blaming herself for his death.
Ayesha disclosed that she reciprocated Suki's feelings and had always known she was gay, finding the courage to come out following Hardeep's demise.
Finding common ground in their disdain for Nish, Ayesha and Suki took him on together, leaving him perplexed as his scheme crumbled, reports the Daily Star.

Subsequently, Suki convinced Ayesha to linger, with the two ladies joining Eve for a tipple at The Vic. However, a noticeable rapport between the old pals set Eve's nerves on edge.
Nish slyly sewed seeds of doubt in Eve's thoughts by revealing the two women's history, remarking, "I guess you could say that she was Suki's first love," adding, "I just hope it's not a problem for you."
EastEnders enthusiasts are clamouring for Ayesha to nab a permanent spot on the programme. With palpable excitement, a viewer wrote on social media platform X: "Love Ayesha wish her stint was going to be longer than a guest role #EastEnders".
