The Chase: Player Lily answers quick fire questions

ITV fans threatened to "switch off" after being left furious over one contestant on the popular game show. On Monday night sociology university student, Lily attempted to face Paul Sinha.

During the first round Lily, 20, struggled to answer the quick-fire questions in the show's cash builder. The university student only managed to answer three questions during the first round and was shortly eliminated from the popular game show.

Outraged fans took to X to express their frustration.

“Really, I can’t it when they don’t have a clue on the Chase. I’m switching off,” wrote one user. Meanwhile a second added: “Wow, the quality of university students #thechase.” Another chimed in and said: “Oh dear oh dear oh dear. #thechase.” A fourth said: “Lily is a waster get her off my screen.”

Host Bradley Walsh turned to her teammates and asked their opinion on what offer from the Chaser she should go for but they appeared to have little hope for the youngster. They urged Lily to go for the low offer to return to the team.

The highest offer was £10,000 while the middle was £3,000 and the lowest was a mere £1,000. Although Lily appeared disappointed with Paul's shocking offer.

Her teammate James gave some kind words of advice following her battle with Paul and said: “Just give yourself some breathing room and take the lower offer.”

While Darren also agreed and was heard saying: “I just want you back here, we all want you here, take what you feel you can manage.”

However, Lily decided to go with the middle amount and told Bradley, 64: “I really want the three, I just can’t bring myself to get the 1,000, it’s my competitive side.”

Although Paul did not agree and felt she was out of her depth. He told her: “I think you are brave and should have gone for the £1,000.”

Her time on the show was short-lived after she was eliminated during the second round and failed to beat the chaser.

Paul said that it was a “massive relief” because it meant that he “knocked a player out” meaning there was one less in the final chase.

The remaining contestants managed to get £23,000 in the prize pot and went on to beat the Chaser.

Bradley said: “It was a sensational performance, a score of 21 and what an amount. You all played perfectly well and played as a team."

The Chase airs on ITV1 and ITVX during the week at 5pm.
