The Chase: Bradley Walsh praises contestants in cash builder raising £19K

Bradley Walsh made a three-word declaration after a team's record-breaking performance. Friday's instalment (August 2), of The Chase saw Julie, Cameron, Sue and Darran take on Mark Labbett.

First to take on The Beast was 57-year-old Julie, who left Bradley lost for words following her impressive performance in the cash builder round. Despite being player number one, Julie didn't let the pressure get to her as she managed to bag a whopping £10,000, a figure rarely seen in the early stages of the game.

While the PHD student assumed she'd only answered five questions correctly, Bradley left her speechless when he revealed her actual score, saying: "That very rarely happens. Absolutely brilliant."

Mark, 58, couldn't help but praise his opposition as he stepped out for the first time. After giving Julie a round of applause, the quizzer said: "10 is a pretty good score. Best chaser gets the best teams so lets get on with it."

Mark wasn't afraid to put some money on the table as he offered Julie a staggering £60,000. She decided to stick with her £10,000, however, and made it through to the final chase.

As Julie made her way back to the team, Bradley branded her a "seriously good player". The Beast agreed: "You're a great quizzer but the other three, I'd ignore everything she's said. She's just cost you £60,000 because she's a chicken!"

Cameron had big shoes to fill as he prepared to take on Mark. But the 27-year-old also had an incredibly successful first round, answering nine questions correctly.

"£19,000 for two!" Bradley exclaimed. "I can't remember the last time that happened." The presenter declared: "What a team." Unfortunately, the contestants had to wave goodbye to Cameron's £9,000 as he was caught by Mark.

Third to take on the chaser was Sue, who earned £6,000 in her cash builder. Sticking with this sum, the 61-year-old took the team's total to £16,000 after making it through to the final chase.

Darran was the final player to go head-to-head with Mark. After he answered five questions correctly, Mark tried to tempt him with an eye-watering £74,000 - and it worked.

The 35-year-old was the first player to take the high offer and, after nail-biting round, managed to make it back to his teammates, taking their total up to a jaw-dropping £90,000.

The trio answered 16 questions between them during the final chase. But in a devastating blow, The Beast caught the team with just nine seconds remaining.
