Eamonn Holmes has reacted to the Strictly scandal which saw Amanda Abbington declare her 2023 dance partner Giovanni Pernice "abusive" and "cruel".

Her bombshell interviews on national TV made waves last week, when she also shared that she'd felt "sexually humiliated" by undisclosed actions during rehearsals. Giovanni has denied all the allegations and handed evidence of Whatsapp chats, plus a secret audio recording he made of her apologising to him, which he reportedly feels will exonerate him.

Eamonn waded into the debate this morning on GB News to condemn the events that led to the Sicilian pro announcing he was quitting earlier this year. He exclaimed: "What does that achieve, a man losing his job?"

He also expressed outrage, along with his co-star, that people had to be "so careful" what they said and did to avoid being "cancelled". Piers Morgan expressed a similar view over the weekend, insisting that some celebrities are "snowflakes".

He added that he'd perform on Strictly himself under one condition - that his trainer was "tough, uncompromising and brutal". Piers joked that if Giovanni was coaching him, he would want - and expect - nothing less.

Some Strictly celebrities have had very serious negative experiences with the show, such as Zara McDermott, who was kicked by her partner Graziano di Prima last year.

Graziano has now been sacked for "gross misconduct" and has returned to a family farm in Sicily, where he began work "digging trenches".

However, Giovanni continues to protest his innocence, reportedly having offered the BBC audio footage he recorded of Amanda branding herself a "nightmare" to work with and apologising, before thanking him for his "support".

The results of a BBC probe are expected to be released this week which will determine whether he is found innocent or not.

Meanwhile, on today's episode of GB News, Eamonn made more outspoken comments when the conversation turned to AI robots and the growing trend of people having "relationships" with them.

Eamonn defended the practise, retorting: "There are so many ugly people in the world that absolutely no-one would love!"

He added that many viewers at home might identify themselves as one of those "ugly people", sparking laughter in the online comments.

Meanwhile, although Eamonn doesn't believe Giovanni should be cancelled, he was quicker to condemn the Olympics opening ceremony for portraying a re-enactment of The Last Summer.

The performance, by Drag Race France stars, was regarded by many as "blasphemous" and organisers were forced to apologise.

Meanwhile, Eamonn condemned the ceremony as "a load of pretentious rubbish", admitting he'd switched off.
