Naga and Charlie discuss incident at Manchester Airport

BBC Breakfast fans have slammed the show over the reporting of the recent video showing police officers kicking two men at Manchester airport.

Fans of the daytime programme took to social media to complain after Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt reported about an armed officer being suspended for stamping on a man’s head.

One person said on X: "Why do you insist on misrepresenting the Manchester airport incident. Before the scene you seem to focus on, the police were attacked by the individual and others, where one officer had her nose broken. This fact is useful context that you choose to omit. #BBCBreakfast."

A second person commented: "BBC news you are a disgrace. I've just turned you off. All I've heard is about the man who was kicked in the head and you showing the clip over and over again. You really are trying to stir things up. What about the injured police officers, the soldier who was stabbed ??"

A third also chimed in: "I have a challenge for you BBC. if it is proven the police were violently attacked by these people, then report it. I dare you. I bet you won't though."

An armed officer is seen in a video kicking a man in the head and stamping on it. He has since been suspended and an investigation is under way.

On Wednesday night, protesters gathered at Rochdale police station and another demonstration took place in Manchester on Thursday where marchers blocked traffic.

Mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham, has asked for calm and said: "It is a fast-moving and complicated situation in a challenging location at the airport. It is not clear-cut, I would say, and there are issues for both sides in the situation. That said, it is right that the officer has been suspended. It is abundantly clear to me that the right steps have been taken."
