Anna Kendrick has dazzled us on-screen over the years, giving amazing performances in movies ranging from the Pitch Perfect series to thriller A Simple Favor, and even delivering as the voice of Poppy in the Trolls movies.
Now, her UK-based fans will finally get to see her in latest comedy-thriller film, Self Reliance, as a release date has been announced - and they won't have long to wait.
The film will be available to stream on Paramount + on August 9, exclusively for those who are subscribed to the platform. Self Reliance was initially released in the US on Hulu in January this year, after an exclusive one-day special cinema release.
As well as Anna, the film features an ensemble cast including New Girl's Jake Johnson, Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg and Schitt's Creek's Emily Hampshire. Also starring in the movie are Back to the Future legend Christopher Lloyd and Dead To Me actress Natalie Morales. Eagle-eyed fans may also spot Stranger Things star Eduardo Franco in the role of P.A Ninja.
The movie follows Tommy (Jake Johnson), a middle aged man who is invited to play a game where he is eligible to win a million dollars in a dark web reality TV show. The catch is that he as to survive 30 days as a group of assassins called 'Hunters' from all over the world attempt to kill him.

As his loved ones refuse to believe that the game is real, Tommy is forced to find other allies in order to stay alive and win the game. He meets a woman named Maddy (Anna Kendrick) and the pair make a pact to try and win the money together, forging a romantic connection in the process.
However, with danger lurking in every corner, will Tommy and Maddy survive the month-long bloody battle and will they win the life-changing sum of money?
As well as starring as the lead character in this film, this also marks Jake's directorial debut for a feature-length film. Self Reliance currently has a 6.1 IMDB rating based off of 14 thousand reviews as well as a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
As if directing and starring in the film isn't enough, Jake has also written the film and co-producing it alongside Ali Bell and Joe Hardesty.

Anna has already had an incredible year last year, coming off of the back of receiving critical acclaim for psychological film Alice, Darling.
She also made her directorial debut for period crime drama film Woman of the Hour, which she also starred in as Cheryl Bradshaw and produced. Anna's next is the untitled A Simple Favor sequel which is currently in post-production and is yet to be given a release date.
Self Reliance will release on August 9 on Paramount +.
