Homes Under the Hammer: Property owner shares regret
In a gripping episode of Homes Under the Hammer, one property owner shared his tale of regret on the BBC programme.
Tommy Walsh took viewers on a tour of a two-bedroom Suffolk home before it went under the hammer for £101,000, revealing the extent of mould infestation.
The new owner ambitiously planned to shell out up to £35,000 on renovations, aiming to finish the overhaul in just three months.
A year and three months later, the Homes Under the Hammer crew returned to witness the transformation of the once-dilapidated house.
Reflecting on the renovation journey, the homeowner admitted: "Well, it has certainly been an eye-opener and I've acquired a lot of knowledge."
"I wouldn't have acquired that knowledge or learnt the things I've learnt without buying this property.
"But had I known all those things, I would not have brought it."
Echoing his sentiments with a chuckle, his project manager added: "Had I known all those things, I wouldn't have let you buy it!"
He also disclosed that he hadn't seen the inside of the property prior to the auction purchase.

Confronted by the BBC presenter about his initial reaction, he confessed: "It was a real shock!
"I thought, 'Oh my word, what have I let myself in for?"
By relocating the bathroom downstairs, the savvy investor managed to convert the space into a three-bedroom abode while also repositioning the kitchen.
Viewers were finally clued in that the buyer shelled out approximately £48,000 on refurbishments for the property.
On the BBC programme aired in February, property guru Chris Bailey was brought in to evaluate the house's potential market value post-makeover.
He estimated on the show: "In my opinion, right now you're going to be looking at somewhere between £130,000 to £150,000."
Despite this, the project manager disclosed they had listed the property for a hopeful £195,000, aiming to secure a sale close to their asking price.
