Escape to The Country's Jules Hudson was quick to dismiss any notion of a lowball offer after a buyer pitched a figure that seemed too modest.

On the afternoon episode of Wednesday (July 17), Jules embarked on another bucolic adventure across England, seeking the ideal retreat for a couple yearning for a more tranquil existence. Helen and Paul, a married duo from West Sussex, were assisted by the BBC presenter as they scoured North and West Yorkshire for their dream abode.

With a desire to move and believing the timing couldn't be better, Helen and Paul, armed with a budget of £750,000, were in search of a detached property boasting ample space.

Their journey brought them to a property in Kirkburton, nestled between Leeds and Manchester. Touring the capacious dwelling with Jules at the helm, the couple admired its contemporary design and exquisite arrangement.

However, when Jules inquired about their thoughts on the sizeable three-bedroom house, complete with a lavish garden, Helen's suggested offer left him visibly shocked. He queried: "What do you reckon?"

To which Helen ventured: "I'm going to give you a hopeful, £700,000."

A flabbergasted Jules could only puff out in disbelief before responding: "Yeah, hopeful!"

Paul, on the other hand, suggested a more reasonable £735,000. Addressing this, Jules remarked: "£735,000 up against your very cheeky £700,000. Well here's the thing, I'm afraid you're both wrong.

"This is going to push you all the way, it's offers in the region of £750,000. So I admire the optimism, but it is offers in the region of, who knows maybe the cheeky offer that's respectable might allow you the change to do that," he explained.

Later on in the show, eager property seekers Paul and Helen decided to revisit their second option. Despite not ticking all their boxes, Helen remarked that the house had "a lot of family space".

To their surprise, Jules expressed his delight at their decision: "Guys well I'm absolutely delighted! I'll be honest with you, there were moments this week when I didn't know if we would get there. You did play your cards close to your chest!"
