Chris and Rosie Ramsey's BBC chat show has been shelved, it has been announced. The show, which is hosted by the husband and wife duo, first hit screens in 2022 following the success of their hit podcast, Sh**ged, Married, Annoyed.

However, executives have reportedly paused the production of the chat show which saw Chris and Rosie, both 37, invite celebrity couples onto the programme to candidly talk about their love lives. Their famous guests include comedian Katherine Ryan and her partner Bobby Kootstra.

It has been reported in The Sun that the BBC had to axe the show due to a "schedule clash". "The BBC absolutely love Chris and Rosie, they're a hilariously entertaining duo but most importantly, real," an insider told the newspaper.

"They want to continue producing The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show for audiences but due to schedule clashes, they can't make it work right now," they added.

"While the show has been paused for now, behind-the-scenes the BBC is continuing to look at ways the show can continue with Avalon."

The BBC's Annual Plan shows viewers will be getting fewer new shows in the next 12 months due to "ongoing pressure on the BBC's finances and increasing cost of programming".

The plan was released earlier this year and revealed the "commitment" to first-run original drama will dip by 13 per cent to 350 hours.

Factual and entertainment shows will see a greater drop of 15 per cent fewer hours and there will be 10 fewer hours committed to new content across CBeebies and CBBC.

While some shows, such as Motherland are being axed, other staples will remain on the broadcaster, including Call The Midwife, Death in Paradise, Shetland and RuPaul's Drag Race UK to viewers' relief.

Diana Morgan, who plays single mother Liz on Motherland, told RadioTimes: "I hate to say it because I still get women running up to me with prams in the street asking me when it’s coming back."

Motherland won the BAFTA for Best Scripted Comedy in 2022, but it was axed after three seasons to the shock of fans.
