EastEnders schedule disrupted as soap pulled off air before double bill

Soap loyalists are grappling with a continuously altering television timeline and swapping channels as BBC and ITV bosses clear the schedule for coverage of the General Election and the Euros 2024 event.

EastEnders, which regularly airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One, has seen its timing shifted and has either been relocated to an airing slot on BBC Two, or completely eliminated from the line-up due to sports events filling the broadcast hours.

Sadly, viewers hoping to catch the unfolding melodrama in Albert Square on Monday, July 1, will face disappointment as the soap has been entirely wiped off the programme list for both Monday and Tuesday, July 2, with Wimbledon taking over BBC One from 2pm to 6pm, causing further scheduling upheavals.

At 7:30pm, BBC will then showcase the Portugal v Slovenia match, starting in Germany at 8pm. However, it isn't all gloom, since EastEnders has declared that double bills of the popular soap will air on BBC Two on Wednesday, July 3, and Thursday, July 4.

Moreover, regular fans of EastEnders can still view all episodes released at 6am on BBC iPlayer from Monday to Thursday, allowing them to watch the programme whenever they choose.

The official EastEnders account on X, formerly Twitter confirmed this: "We have a double bill of #EastEnders this Wednesday and Thursday on @BBCTwo, or watch now on @BBCiPlayer", reports the Daily Star.

One viewer expressed relief, commenting: "Thank God for iPlayer otherwise I'd hate football even more."

While another chimed in with enthusiasm: "Wow We have a double bill of #EastEnders this Wednesday and Thursday on @BBCTwo."
