BBC Breakfast: Jon Kay asks guest if she's giving him the evil eye

BBC Breakfast host Jon Kay asked a guest if they were giving him the "evil eye" in an awkward moment during an interview on Monday's instalment of the news programme. The 54-year-old and his co-host Sally Nugent were joined on the red sofa by actress and comedian Sara Pascoe who was discussing her new BBC Two series.

A clip was shown of Sara speaking to a woman who told her she had been given the evil eye and had been cursed by someone. As the camera panned back to the studio, Jon asked: "The evil eye, you're giving us the evil eye now?"

The actress quickly said: "No," as she held her hands up to protest her innocence. Sally, 52, joked: "What is it? I never knew that about you," as she awkwardly laughed during the conversation.

BBC viewers weren't best pleased with the "tedious" conversation as they rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to air their grievances on the episode in question.

One unimpressed social media user expressed: "Frigging hellfire this is tedious #bbcbreakfast." Another viewer agreed and said: "Just been a woman on BBC Breakfast talking about being famous. No idea who she was..." (sic)

Somebody else wrote on X: "This guy is a wind up #gmb #bbcbreakfast."

While a fourth argued: "#BBCBreakfast another no news day."

A fifth asked: "Any news today? Been up since 8 and yet to see anything of interest. Bye #BBCBreakfast."

A sixth BBC viewer said: "Famous comedian.. who’s not funny. You go girl. Smashing it. #BBCBreakfast."
