Corrie: Tracy leaves with Tommy to go to Spain
Coronation Street's Steve McDonald (played by Simon Gregson) is put in an awkward position by friend Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) next week as his dating woes continue. Official spoilers released by ITV for the thrice weekly soap indicate that Steve is trepadacious about dipping his toe into the online dating world.
He has been chatting to a woman called Demi but is reticent to take it any further. As they sit in the café Tim quizzes Steve about the mysterious woman and urges him to arrange a date with her to check out that she really exists and is who she says she is.
Despite Tim's concerns and mithering Steve continues to dither which infuriates Tim. Fed up listening to him Tim grabs his phone and sends a message to Demi suggesting they go on a date.
As a shocked Steve realises what has happened he berates Tim. Is he going to be unlucky in love again?
Steve has been completely lovelorn ever since wife Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) waved goodbye to Weatherfield and went to join her football star lover Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn) in Spain. Although he has attended dating events in the hopes of finding love again he has been unlucky so far.
Steve actor Simon Gregson recently spoke of his excitment at seeing the character in this new stage of his life.
"I think it would be great if we see Steve having to go down the route of speed dating, online dating, maybe being single for a while.
"Steve could have a full on mid life crisis, maybe we could see him losing weight, changing his appearance, going to the gym.
"It could be a lot of fun and also a great excuse for me to make some changes in real life with him!" he enthused.

Unfortunately, the single life hasn't been kind to him, as he has faced rejection at every turn.
When he went out to the Chariot Square Hotel with father-in-law Ken Barlow (William Roche) he thought his luck was in when drinks were sent to the table.
However, they were actually meant to catch the eye of Ken after a character called Elspeth (Helen Lederer) took a shine to him. He also lucked out at the Rovers Return's recent speed dating night.
Whether he will have more luck with online dating and Demi remains to be seen.
Coronation Street is on ITV Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm.
