BBC's came to an end on Friday and its schedule replacement has been confirmed as the BBC drama Granite Harbour, which is back for another series. As the final episode of the Shipton Abbott drama came to an end, some fans claimed to have felt "betrayed" after Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) didn't get married.

Meanwhile, Humphrey's colleagues had their own drama to contend with as DS Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi) found herself working alone on a case involving a break-in at the Shipton Abbott Museum and the theft of its most valued item. The thief managed to evade CCTV and a comprehensive alarm system, leaving a perplexing case behind.

PC Kelby Hartford (Dylan Llewellyn) was tasked with solving a case where an elderly woman reported two men breaking into her home and emptying her bank accounts via her computer. With only vague descriptions of the suspects resembling two unexpected public figures, Kelby had his work cut out for him.

The case took a surprising turn when it was revealed that the victim, Ella (Souad Faress), is the grandmother of Chief Superintendent Charlie Woods (Jade Harrison). However, everything nearly fell into place in the end, with Kelby apprehending his criminals and the Chief announcing that the police station would not be closing.

And while Martha and Humphrey were certain about their future together after fostering their first child, some fans were gutted the couple didn't say "I do".

One fan expressed their disappointment on X, stating: "Cancelling everything is OTT and sort of ruining it too."

Another viewer expressed their disappointment: "I wanted to see the wedding, the speeches, first dance, and vows, I feel betrayed, beyond betrayed #BeyondParadise."

"YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME? No wedding," a third fan questioned, while another queried: "No wedding? (Today? ) #beyondparadise."

Beyond Paradise, which has aired every Friday at 8pm on BBC One, will now be replaced by another cop drama, Granite Harbour.

The synopsis for the first episode reads: "Davis Lindo is back, having decided to stay in Aberdeen and continue with his traineeship at the MIT team. However, his estranged father has decided to visit - and he has an agenda of his own.

"The team members have their work cut out when 'reformed' drug kingpin, Grace McFadden's notorious fixer, Lucas Galloway, turns up dead.

"A new cocaine and ketamine compound is flooding the streets, and there's suspicion that there might be an impending turf war.

"To complicate things, Davis has to investigate the case of an unknown pregnant shoplifting stowaway."

Despite the end of series two, the BBC has confirmed that Beyond Paradise will return for a third season in 2025.

Tim Key, executive producer for Red Planet Pictures, expressed his delight at the show's renewal: "The response to series two has been fantastic. So much love goes into the making of the show and we're delighted that the audience has enjoyed it so much."

"We can't wait to get back to Shipton Abbott for another Christmas special and series to continue the story and learn more about our characters and the town they live in - I can promise that we'll be making the viewers laugh, cry, laugh a bit more and then baffling them with a series of ingenious puzzles. There will also be a duck."

Beyond Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer and Granite Harbour will return on Friday at 8pm on BBC One.
