Denise Black returns to Coronation Street as Daniel Osbourne's mum

Denise Black, a familiar face on and , suffered a nasty tumble resulting in a broken arm and foot. The 65 year old actress, known for her role as Ken Barlow's partner Denise Osbourne, needed urgent medical treatment after the scary fall.

Despite her sore injuries, she remained positive and made light of the situation by sharing how it happened. A heavy object fell on her foot during the accident, breaking some bones.

Sharing her story on social media, she said: "Now I'm mending I can tell you. I broke my wonky arm.

"As I fell I dropped what I was carrying which broke my foot. Know Hoffnung's Bricklayers joke? Google it. I am that joke."

She humorously referred to Hoffnung's Bricklayers joke, implying she was the joke's embodiment. The grateful actress thanked the NHS staff for their care, stating: "Humungous shout out to doctors and nurses far and wide, very especially our beloved NHS.

"You make humans seem like GOOD people. Great news is I'm still filming. Even better news is I'm mending."

Ensuring her fans that she is still filming and healing, Denise added: "Sure, I may be wonkier than before, but in truth, aren't all the best people? Inside and out #embraceyourwonkiness #thankyounhs."

Fans were worried about the star but cheered by Denise's positive update. One fan wrote: "And you're still smiling. What a trouper. Wishing you a speedy recovery."

Another shared: "Oh no! Wishing you a miraculous speedy recovery." A third fan said: "Oh Denise! You are a calamity. Bless you. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Lots of love."

Back in 2020, Denise told her fans she was getting help from the NHS for hip replacement surgery.

On her website, she said: "You might notice a discrete walking stick in that pic outside TV Centre in my last post? Well news is, it's GONE! ".

"Two new hips and I'm officially bionic. I've thrown my stick away and it's like being a kid again. I'd thought I'd celebrate with a new look. What do you reckon? "

She also thanked the NHS: "Can I just say a big thank you and hats off to our mighty NHS, you people are just the tops. I can't thank you enough. Thinking of you all with this awful flu scare going on. I know I'm a restless patient (is that an oxymoron? ) but you guys make pain bearable."

Denise has been famous since her time on Coronation Street from 1992 to 2017 and has done lots of other acting too.

She had a leading role in the groundbreaking Channel 4 TV series Queer As Folk, a memorable guest appearance on the comedy series Benidorm, and also portrayed Joanie Dingle on ITV's Emmerdale.
