Hairy Bikers' star Dave Myers has revealed one of his most humiliating moments during the latest episode of The Hairy Bikers' Go West.

Dave and his fellow celebrity chef and co-star Si King rode through Liverpool and Wirral for episode four of their new BBC series which aired Tuesday, February 27.

During a chat, the pair, who have been tucking into the best food the region has to offer, recalled their "fond childhood memories" in Merseyside.

Si said he remembered walking across the prom in New Brighton when Dave chimed in saying: "I once came to Liverpool to stay in a bed and breakfast for a week's holiday when I was a kid.

"It was funny because they took me on the ferry across the Mersey and when I came back, you know when you do your school diary, me I was always pretentious, I put so mam and dad took me on a cruise."

"I said we went to New Brighton and they burst out laughing," he added. "I was really humiliated. Because I thought the New Brighton ferry was a cruise."

Si replied: "Well I mean it is, if you want to get to New Brighton that is." Dave's being back on the road has been a welcome sight for viewers.

The 66-year-old has had a difficult few years after he was diagnosed with cancer in May 2022. After he revealed his illness he took a break from all filming activities while undergoing chemotherapy.

He subsequently admitted that he was diagnosed with anorexia after losing weight while he battled the disease. He underwent gruelling rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy to beat his illness.

In last Tuesday's episode, which saw the pals explore Lancashire on their motorbikes, Si, who was born inj the county, said: "It’s great getting back here with my best mate.

"We didn’t think 18 months ago that we’d be on the bikes again wandering around Dave’s backyard and it's wonderful that we are."

A grinning Dave said: “It’s been glorious. The motorcycling’s been glorious. What can I say - it feels so good to be alive.”
