Call the Midwife: Teaser trailer for Season 13 ep 6
Call the Midwife star Stephen McGann took to social media to take a swipe at the BBC over its introduction to the popular BBC programme. The actor, 61, who plays Dr Patrick Turner has vocalised his anger towards its description.
Stephen refused to keep quiet when he heard that the show had been being described as “a healthy dose of nostalgia”. He decided to vent online, which caused several viewers to agree with him.
Taking to on X, formerly known as Twitter, the beloved actor decided to pen his thoughts before the show started on Sunday night. He wrote: “BBC Announcer: ‘Now for a healthy dose of nostalgia with Call the Midwife...
“Followed by a drama about domestic abuse, child abandonment, the familial impact of terminal illness, and the psychological burden of serious debt...”
The programme has been on our screens for the last 12 years and often touches on sensitive issues. Most recently it brought to light several topics from the period – which is set in 1950S Britain. However, some of the complex matters raised are still prevalent today.

A third complained: “I raised my eyebrows and gnashed my teeth at that.
“Every time I hear it called ‘cosy’ I think ‘yup, nothing cosier than watching women dying from avoidable illness, having their kids taken into care, staying in abusive relationships - due to poverty. Pass the Horlicks,’” someone else commented.
