Percy Jackson and The Olympians: Official teaser trailer

Percy Jackson and the Olympians star Walker Scobell is already preparing for a second season, which will most likely be based on Rick Riordan’s novel Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters.

The sequel follows Percy and his friends Grover (played by Aryan Simhadri) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) on another perilous quest, this time at sea.

Disney+ has yet to officially confirm a second outing for the popular young adult drama, though news could arrive shortly after the season finale drops on Tuesday.

During Express.co.uk’s chat with the main trio, we asked if they’ve started getting swimming lessons to prepare for the nautical adventure.

Aryan confirmed: “These two are!" And Walker added: “We did some swimming lessons while we were filming.”

To which Leah remarked: “Hopefully they’re gonna get us to do even more…"

“Oh yeah, a lot more. Get ready!” Walker replied.

“Imagine, next season, they just get this whole wave pool or something,” Leah said. And Aryan agreed: “They might!”

As he’s portraying the iconic half-blood son of Poseidon, Percy star Walker revealed he already became a strong diver for some key scenes in the first season.

“While filming last season I got my junior diver’s license so I could do all the underwater scenes and talking and stuff,” he said.

“But, while we’re filming next season, I don’t even know if it’s confirmed yet, but I would assume that it’s maybe next summer. Like, next time that we filmed last season.

“And I turned 14, I had a birthday while we were filming last season. I’m gonna be turning 16 next season.

“So I’ll probably be able to get my official diver’s license.”

If things go to plan, Percy will have an even greater command of the oceans, meaning Walker has to look just as at home in the water as he does on dry land.

Thankfully, author Rick has confirmed scripts for season two are already being written, and the series has hopefully had a strong enough reception to continue.

“I think the hope is that we would continue collaborating on this,” he told us.

“I have the utmost confidence in our team, in our studio partners. They have been fabulous and done a wonderful job, and been incredibly collaborative.

“I think that they would like us to stay involved as well. Simply as guides and stewards of the source material to make sure things continue as they have started.

“And things have started very well indeed.”

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is available to stream on Disney+.
