From Software has confirmed that Elden Ring: Nightreign will not have cross-play. However, players in the same family of systems will be able to play with each other across generations.
In an interview with IGN, director Junya Ishizaki said, "Similar to the original Elden Ring, there will be cross-generational play but not cross-platform play. So PS4 players can play with PS5 players, and Xbox One players can play with Xbox Series S and X players, but not between platforms."
Given the game's multiplayer and co-op focus, it's a bummer that cross-play isn't supported. Elden Ring operated similarly, where PlayStation and Xbox players could only summon help from others within their respective family of consoles.
