Your journey in Black Myth: Wukong begins as a random monkey, setting out to collect some ancient artifacts from various regions. Eventually, though, you'll achieve power that can rival the Monkey King himself, especially once you don his iconic equipment. Here's our guide to help you get the mythical Wukong armor and Jingubang in Black Myth: Wukong. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains spoilers.
Black Myth: Wukong mythical armor and weapon - Jingubang and Wukong armor set
The Black Myth: Wukong mythical armor set and Jingubang weapon, said to be wielded by the Monkey King in ages long past, can be yours in Chapter 6. This chapter is set in the Mount Huaguo region.
In fact, obtaining all these gear pieces is necessary if you want to progress all the way to the game's conclusion. At the end of this arduous process, you'll have the following:
- Weapon: Jingubang
- Helmet: Golden Feng-Tail Crown
- Chestpiece: Gold Suozi Armor
- Gloves: Dian-Cui Loong-Soaring Bracers
- Boots: Lotus Silk Cloudtreaders
- Spell/mount: Somersault Cloud
Somersault Cloud and exploring Mount Huaguo
You can acquire the mythical Wukong armor set and Jingubang in Black Myth: Wukong through the use of the Somersault Cloud. This spell is obtained after beating the Supreme Inspector boss early in the chapter.
The Somersault Cloud can be considered a mount, as it allows you to fly around the Mount Huaguo region, which is more vast compared to previous areas. Think of it as somewhat open-world in nature, though there are still invisible walls at the edges of the map. And, yes, you can totally sing "Cha-La Head Cha-La" while you're at it.
In any case, we proceeded to battle the bosses mentioned below in a specific order.
Gold Suozi Armor: Gold Armored Rhino
The first boss that you need to eliminate is the Gold Armored Rhino. Assuming you're at the cliffside area where you initially obtained the Somersault Cloud, all you need to do is fly to the east (i.e. your right). You should see a plateau where a battle has taken place, with a nearby shrine called Rhino Watch Slope. As soon as you approach the center of this field, a cutscene will trigger and this boss will appear.
The Gold Armored Rhino has some easily telegraphed attacks, and it frequently casts lightning-imbued spells, too. What's notable is that you need to hit its horn with a heavy attack to stagger it, though it will regenerate each time this beast tries to call on lightning.
Reward: Gold Suozi Armor
- Defense: +120
- Maximum health: +30
Lotus Silk Cloudtreaders: Cloudtreading Deer
If you thought the Gold Armored Rhino was a pushover, then be ready for a bout that might frustrate you if you're not careful. The Cloudtreading Deer is found due north of the rhino's arena in a place called Deer Sight Forest. Specifically, this creature is on a snow-covered plateau that has a large tree in the center.
What makes this foe annoying is that it uses frost elemental attacks that slow you down and hamper mobility, and the battleground itself is quite huge. Then, once you've depleted its health bar, it turns into a skinned version that shoots blood orbs.
Reward: Lotus Silk Cloudtreaders
- Defense: +72
- Maximum stamina: +30
Golden Feng-Tail Crown: Feng-Tail General
The previous boss encounters just don't hold a candle to the Feng-Tailed General, which is your next objective if you want to acquire the full mythical armor set in Black Myth: Wukong. That's because this isn't actually a boss battle. Rather, it's an encounter with two stat checks based on your stamina and health--think claiming a certain weapon from the Light Dragon in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some preparation is necessary, which is why we discuss this part further in our Feng-Tail General guide.
Reward: Golden Feng-Tail Crown
- Defense: +60
- Maximum mana: +30
Dian-Cui Loong-Soaring Bracers: Emerald-Armed Mantis
After you've tamed the Feng-Tail General to claim its reward, it's time to head to the western portion of the large body of water. You'll notice that the vast majority of trees have green leaves, but one in particular has orange autumn leaves. As you approach it, you'll see the Mantis-Catching Swamp shrine. Likewise, a cutscene will trigger; your trusty companion Zhu Bajie has accidentally swallowed a mantis, and he's at the mercy of a murderous insect that wants to cause a bit more than just a stomach ache.
The Emerald-Armed Mantis is a two-phase encounter. Its fast attacks can easily rip through your character, so make sure you wait for an opening before you go on the offensive.
Reward: Dian-Cui Loong-Soaring Bracers
- Defense: +48
- Critical hit chance: +4%
Jingubang: Water Curtain Cave
Now that you have the full mythical Wukong armor set, equip all the gear pieces and fly to Water Curtain Cave, which is due north of the Mantis-Catching Swamp waypoint. You'll get dismounted as you enter, so go to the interior on foot. Inside, you'll see a giant staff that you should be able to wield after a cutscene.
Reward: Jingubang
- Attack: +135
- Critical hit chance: +6%
- Unique effect: The gauge of the fourth focus point no longer depletes over time.
Note that all of these gear pieces have a set bonus, too:
- Three-piece bonus: Moderately increases your critical hit chance for a short duration after casting a spell.
- Five-piece bonus (full armor set and weapon equipped): Slightly reduces the cooldown of all spells upon landing a critical hit.
