San Francisco 49ers quarterback went all out for his team holiday present, opting to give out brand-new cars to the entire offensive line.
“Boys, I just want to say Merry Christmas [and] I got some gifts for you guys,” Purdy, 24, said in a Thursday, December 19, video shared on the team’s social media page. “Sorry for the wait, but if you want to follow me outside. Let’s go.”
As the 49ers athletes headed outside their practice facility, they were shocked to see a fleet of white Toyota trucks. Each vehicle was topped with a big, red bow on the hood.
“Let’s go, Toyota, baby,” Purdy quipped. “Alright, so we got five Sequoias, five Tundras. You guys can check ‘em out, but these are yours, so Merry Christmas. Appreciate you guys. Thanks for all you do.”
Purdy further stressed that he “wanted to” do this for his NFL teammates.
Purdy handed over the keys to new Tundra TRD Pros and Sequoia TRD Pros, respectively. While they all had white exteriors, the inside fabric of each was cherry red in honor of the 49ers’ team colors.
Purdy was drafted last by the 49ers in 2022, leading them to the Super Bowl earlier this year, though they narrowly lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. As the San Francisco squad kicked off the 2024-2025 football season, Purdy insisted on gifting cars to the team.
“I mean, I saw your Applebee’s commercial, you’re an actor,” tight end quipped during an October game. “Can I get a discount code?”
Moments later, Purdy inquired about another teammate’s “ghost sleeves” before joking about his Toyota endorsement.
“Are you making fun of it? You know we don’t have Toyota sponsorships, bro,” his teammate said.
Purdy replied, asking if the guys wanted “some Toyota Camrys.”
“I got you,” the quarterback proclaimed.
Fans on social media were quick to praise Purdy’s selflessness for following through on his promise.
“He did that with a rookie contract,” one social media user wrote, as another added, “Not a Niners fan but Brock Purdy is a class act.”
A third chimed in, “For a QB that doesn’t make a lot more money than the other high-paid QBs put there, he’s very generous to his teammates.”
According to ESPN, Purdy earns an annual salary of $870,000 while several other league quarterbacks rake in multimillion-dollar earnings for a single season.
