Making its debut less than two years ago, Berlin-based Ante is still a relatively new name in the activewear market, but founders Marcus Butler, Julian Weigl, and Christian Zellin have not let that hold them back.
The trio has gone on to create a library of clean-cut performance apparel underscored with a progressive edge. Through its run of highly sought-after drops, Ante has established its distinctive aesthetic through a fusion of streamlined silhouettes and various technical components. Having captured the attention of runners across Europe, the garments have now started to make their way into everyday wear, blurring the lines between sports and fashion.
Leveling up its creative blueprint, last year Ante revealed a new line of ready-to-wear running garments called Forward Wear. From breathable and quick-drying vests to lightweight shorts, the elevated essentials have gone on to appear on racetracks and in campaigns with their unmistakably sleek, Berlin-inspired style, coming together to propose a refined uniform for the dedicated runners of today.
Going behind the scenes of its design process, the label shares a look at its Berlin studio in an intimate brand portrait. Located on Kurfürstenstraße in Mitte, the visuals shot by resident collaborator Sonjay Williams document the three founders in the midst of creating mood boards and cutting up samples for upcoming releases. Through an unfiltered lens, the visuals reflect the label’s similarly unfussy and forward-thinking style.
Beyond just an apparel brand, Ante has also fostered a unique creative community filled with individuals who are equally passionate about running as they are about Berlin culture. Tapping into their own backgrounds, they have helped to feed into the label’s fashion-meets-sports vision, one drop at a time. Amongst its most notable partners, though, is adidas. Most recently, the brands joined forces at The Speed Project where a collective of runners were given the opportunity to test out the latest Ante gear along with the new Adizero EVO SL.
