Las Vegas Aces superstar and three-time WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson is expected to sign a six-year contract extension with Nike. According to ESPN, the deal is set to be "one of the richest shoe deals for a women's basketball player."
The news of the contract extension for the two-time league champion comes after the announcement of her signature shoe, the Nike A'One. Following the news in May, Nike dropped a special-edition MVP t-shirt after Wilson was crowned the league's MVP for the third time. Wilson's signature shoe is slated to launch in Spring 2025, prior to the upcoming WNBA season.
Wilson is amongst her fellow WNBA peers like Caitlin Clark, JuJu Watkins and Sabrina Ionescu who have signed on with Nike. Their deals are reportedly some of the highest-paid shoe endorsements in the sport. Clark reportedly signed an eight-year contract worth over $20 million USD and Watkins agreed to a major multi-year contract extension just in October. Ionescu debuted her second signature shoe earlier this spring.
At age 28, Wilson was in her seventh WNBA season and was the first to win the MVP award by unanimous decision since Cynthia Cooper in 1997. She won her second Olympic gold medal over the summer with USA Basketball in Paris.
