This Year's Air Jordan 5 "Black Cat" Reportedly Cancelled

Update: As final preparations are being made for Jordan Brand's holiday drops, word of several cancelled releases has surfaced via MrUnloved1s, who previously noted cancellations of several rumored Travis Scott projects. Included in this list is the Air Jordan 5 "Black Cat," which first excited sneakerheads back in January, as well as the Air Jordan 3 "Brown Cement." However, there are still plenty of drops to look forward to later this year, including the return of the Air Jordan 4 "Fear."

Original Story: When it comes to colorways, Jordan Brand offers a balance of new and familiar looks each year. Some of these arrangements end up touching down on multiple silhouettes over many years, creating a special, ever-expanding lineage. One such series that has grown increasingly popular is the all-black "Black Cat" finish. Starting on the Air Jordan 4 in 2006, it has since graced many other Air Jordans such as the 6 and 13.

Now, according to a report from industry insiders zSneakerHeadz and Sneaker Files, the "Black Cat" treatment is coming to the Air Jordan 5 (pictured above via a mock-up created by the two leakers). While a precise description of its coloring has not yet been shared, it's sure to include various hits of black and dark gray throughout the sneaker. Sneaker Files notes that, based on its designation as an SE release, it is likely to feature a nubuck upper.

At the time of writing, Jordan Brand has not shared its release plan for the Air Jordan 5 in this rumored "Black Cat" colorway. Stay tuned for updates, including a first look at the shoe, as we look forward to it arriving this holiday season via Nike SNKRS and select retailers.
