Glenn Martens has announced that he will be departing Y/Project after an 11-year tenure as its Creative Director.

“Y/Project thanks Glenn for his unique contributions to the label and wishes him the best for the future,” the brand said in a statement.

At the Y/Project, Martens, who took the reins in 2013, helped the brand to accrue a cult following for his witty play on proportions and sleek approach to historical references, as well as landing with a celebrity audience. In its Fall/Winter 2024 lookbook, he tapped Ye, Tyga, Irina Shayk, Charli XCX, Mia Khalifa and more to model the collection.

Simultaneously, Y/Project sat out during Paris Fashion Week in February due to reported cash flow issues.

Y/Project co-founder Gilles Elalouf, who was responsible for bringing Martens on, passed away in June at the age of 58. Elalouf had originally launched the brand with Yohan Serfaty, who died of cancer in 2013.

“Glenn Martens thanks Y/Project and Gilles Elalouf, the late CEO of the brand who tragically passed away last June, for giving him the support and freedom to express his vision while expanding on the creative artistry that the label established,” the statement added.

Martens also serves as the Creative Director of Diesel, having joined the Italian label in 2020. The label is still scheduled to show at Paris Fashion Week this season on September 25.
