Tennis fever enraptured New York City as fans from around the globe took to the Big Apple to celebrate the city's most exciting two weeks of the sport. With the rise of tennis core, fashion enthusiasts are expressing street-bound interpretations of sporting attire, reimagining classic tennis styles with modern, playful sensibilities. In this same spirit, Afterpay partnered with Arthur Ashe to create a unique, tennis-inspired capsule paying homage to one of the sport’s greatest players, a fashion icon in his own right. 

Starting September 6, fans can shop the celebratory Arthur Ashe x Afterpay capsule and more on the Afterpay app as a part of its Dropshop program through the HBX website. The shopping destination offers access to artist-led collaborations and limited-edition merchandise fronted by today’s most exciting independent creators. Fashion lovers looking to find unique wardrobe staples and coveted drops can tap into Afterpay’s robust archive of footwear, apparel and specialty items launched by notable rising brands.

A paragon of sportsmanship, Arthur Ashe embodied the makings of a champion on and off the course, endorsing civil rights and social justice issues throughout his career spanning the 1960s and 1970s. He spoke passionately about youth access to sports and initiatives dedicated to developmental education and public health. The namesake label, fronted by Jeanne Moutoussamy, the Arthur Ashe estate, Rowing Blazers’ creative director and founder Jack Carlson and art director Karl-Raphael Blanchard, pays homage to the late athlete through edgy, reimagined tennis wear.

The Arthur Ashe x Afterpay capsule showcases a custom hoodie adorned with textured chenille patches and co-branded logos. Other apparel pieces arrive with the co-branded Arthur Ashe T-shirt, featuring custom graphics denoting the athlete’s historical Grand Slam titles. As for accessories, the collection includes a monochromatic tote bag and a hat for headwear aficionados. On-the-go essentials aimed at practicing players complete the capsule.
