Denise Welch admits to 'infidelities' on Loose Women in double standards debate
Denise Welch, known for her candidness about her past "infidelities", once again addressed the topic on Loose Women.
During a discussion with fellow panellists Kaye Adams, Olivia Attwood and Nadia Sawalha on Thursday, Denise confessed that her past unfaithfulness was "no secret" and she had faced the consequences of her affairs after they were scrutinised in the media over the years.
The conversation took off on the popular ITV show when Kaye Adams questioned her co-stars about the perceived double standards regarding women's infidelity. She wondered if society viewed cheating differently when it involved men.
Love Island star Olivia Attwood, renowned for her frank views, didn't hold back in sharing her thoughts on the matter. She confessed that she tended to overlook any wrongdoings by her female friends.
However, she acknowledged that there was a clear disparity when men behaved similarly. Olivia revealed that her friends would often "laugh about it", fully aware that if their male partners did the same, it would be met with disapproval, reports the Mirror.

Joining the discussion, Denise agreed with Olivia's observations. She pondered whether society assumed there must be a more "valid reason" for women to cheat when compared to men.
The former Coronation Street star sparked a reaction when she discussed the subject of double standards and infidelity on Loose Women: "I do agree that there are double standards, however when I admitted to my own infidelities I was treated like the wicked witch of the west, certainly by the media and probably quite rightly so."
She subtly referred to the beginnings of her relationship with now-husband Lincoln Townley, skirting around explicit details after being publicly criticised by her ex-husband on the platform formerly known as Twitter.

They were married from 1988 to 2012 and have two sons together, Matt and Louis.
Tim expressed his anger in a deleted tweet: "Just watched yesterday's Loose Women. Denise in her day was talking about how it was ok to have casual sex behind the bike shed even though married."
He further rebuked the public discussion of their private life, stating: "Day after day year on year she discussed our private life. Long suffering Tim Healy I am no more xx."

In an open admission, Denise added: "I genuinely used to think that being unfaithful wasn't the worst thing you could do in a relationship. There were infidelities on both sides... which you girls know about."
