Andrea McLean opens up about blended family life and emotional farewell to son
Andrea McLean has happily shared that her "blended family" has expanded, though she confessed she shed tears when her son departed for university.
Speaking to the Change Makers podcast, as reported by Hello! magazine, the much-loved Loose Women panellist opened up about the emotional moment her son, Finlay, left for higher education.
Married to Nick Feeney since 2017, Andrea juggles a bustling household that recently resettled in London, reports Birmingham Live.
The ex-GMTV weather presenter admitted to feeling overwhelmed after waving off her son, disclosing: "His dad was dropping him to uni in the car and I waved them goodbye, looking very cheery like: 'This is not a big deal, have fun! ' As soon as the door shut, I went upstairs, sat on his bed and cried and cried and cried."
However, a call would later offer Andrea comfort, as she recounted: "But later, my phone rang and he said: 'Mum, I'm on my way back. I forgot a bag! ' It reminded me that he's just going off to university and he's not gone for good."

The former GMTV weather presenter revealed that she broke down after her son left home (Image: Jeff Spicer/Getty Images)Revelling in family life, she added: "He's been in and out and now he's back again. We've come full circle. We're a blended family. We've moved back into London and my daughter goes to college here so she lives with us full time."
Moreover, she revealed that the family home has grown busier, with Nick's eldest daughter and her partner also moving in. According to Andrea, they are truly "gathering children" in their home.

During the chat, she detailed the challenges she faced when discussing her divorces with her children. Andrea also confessed that she kept it a secret that she was "living at mum and dad's".

She disclosed: "I commuted to Loose Women and never told anyone that I was now living at mum and dad's. And then I came back down to Surrey and I told [the kids] that [Steve] had gone away with work."
Andrea was first wedded to producer Nick Green, father to Finlay, before tying the knot with her Our House co-host Steve Toms, Amy's father, in 2006, according to ChronicleLive.
Donna May Clitheroe, the makeup artist on Loose Women, played cupid by setting up Nick and Andrea on a blind date.
